Anne Brown - Producer & Actor
Anne
hails from South Mountain, Ontario, a tiny town outside of
Ottawa. After fourteen years of dance with The Joanne Whittaker
School of Dance, and a couple of summer courses with Salamander
Theatre camps Simply Shakespeare and Broadway Bound, Anne had
her taste of the stage and headed off to Bishop’s University,
receiving an Honours and Drama and a minor in English.
While at Bishop’s, Anne played April in Savage in Limbo, Rose in Les Belles Soeurs, Viola in Twelfth Night, Constance Ledbelly in Goodnight Desdemona, Goodmorning Juliet, and The White Queen in Alice Through The Looking Glass. Also while attending Bishop’s, Anne choreographed the musical adaptations of both Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. After graduation, Anne toured the fringe festivals in 2006 with sketch comedy group The Gently Used Coats. Following that Anne moved to Paris, France where she attended The Bilingual Acting Workshop.
After moving to Vancouver in 2008, Anne co-founded High Horse Theatre Productions with Clare Elliott. In the first season of High Horse entitled ‘Love Lies’ Anne played May in Sam Shepard’s Fool For Love. In the second season, ‘Trapped’, Anne multitasked, taking on not only the role of Glimmer in Stefan Argrim’s Sisters of Mercy, but also directing Amy Abe’s Adrift and co-directing Matt Turner’s Staged.
“I am pleased to be presenting the third season of High Horse, Strangelet: A Play in Four Parts by Stefan Arngrim. Many thanks to the wonderful, dedicated cast and crew of this season. It is a pleasure and an honour to be working with you.”
